At the end of the day in Wellington, nothing beats a stroll along Oriental Parade on a balmy evening.

This photo shows the lights of the Fisherman's Table restaurant reflected in the waters of the Bay.

Oriental Parade - the waterfront in Wellington...

My wife and I were sitting on the bench eating icecream, looking out over the harbour towards the city. (yes, we do actually get some lovely days in Wellington - despite some visitors to our fair city noticing the wind).

If it hadn't been for the seagull flying in to see if it could get a scrap of our 'food', I probably wouldn't have seen the lady next door as a photo-opportunity...

The day I walked the waterfront, it was dusk, so many shadows are in these pics - since I was capturing the views away from the setting sun

Light orbs

Along the Wellington waterfront and stretching to Oriental Parade and beyond are these numbered disks - itersperced at 500m intervals.

I always wondered where they began...until now

Walking between the sheds, some of which have been converted into restaurants, I chanced upon these ducks taking a breather on what looks like to me to be a door.

The other attraction was the reflection

The waterfront in Wellington has many interesting views.

If you look carefully, you can see the Fern Ball orb sculpture suspended over Civic square

this precariously placed, 2metre high, iron sculpture was a tricky one for me to capture.

It's entitled, Solace in the Wind - by English sculptor Max Patte and faces the ever present gales of Wellington.

As the sun set over Wellington, a full moon emerged.

10 seconds earlier and I would have had the perfect shot of a plane flying "through" the moon.

It was a cloudy day, but still we had a good time walking the waterfront on the city side of Wellington - taking photo's of course...

The picture below shows the TSB Bank Arena entrance flanked by the many (well secured) sails.

To many Wellingtonians, it's still called the Convention Centre.

These ones are from Fergs Kayaks. I took a number of photos of kayaks that day, but this one stands out the most.

I'm going back on a sunny afternoon to take more photos of this sculpture for comparison of how it will look on a sky-blue background.

Wellington waterfront - Frank Kitts Park was one of the first areas of the waterfront to be developed in the late 1980's.
